In the class of Environmental Management we are studying the effects of CO2 on the atmosphere when producing energy and the possible solutions to this problem. We had to state why nuclear power is or isn't a the right solution to this problem.
In my opinion, although nuclear power would solve the CO2 problem as it doesn't release gases that contaminate the atmosphere, this is not the right answer. Using nuclear power produces nuclear waste that is very harmful to the environment and there is nothing we can do with this waste. Nuclear plants also could release radioactive emissions if it isn't correctly supervised, there is the risk of accidents that would affect anyone living on the area and there are dangers of attacks made by terrorist groups.
As a conclusion I don't think nuclear power is the right answer to the problem with CO2 because although it solves this problem it brings other kind of problems that are more difficult to solve.
Lovely analysis of the situation, Caterina. I'm in total agreement.
